Several categories in the Awardshow had only one nominee which I thought was a little weird cause you're not really competing against anyone ;) What was the reason for this, not enough submissions? I think it's better to leave out those categories the next time, cause it kind of damages the credibility and status of the FITC awards imho.
Thanks for another great conference! :)

Every category had three finalists / nominees - you can see them at http://awards.fitc.ca/pc/.

"People's Choice" and "Best in Show" only had one nominee each, but this was just a misnomer - I suspect the system that FITC was using required them to enter at least one nominee.

Yeah it's just Best in Show and People's Choice that looked that way at the show. These are actually derived from the full lists of nominees.

When we originally built the app for the awards we didn't have these categories. Since the app was in AS1 and some of the source is missing it's tough to update it. We failed to communicate this glitch to the MC so that he could be clear on this during the presentation.

We are aiming to make a new version of our awards presentation app for next year so this doesn't happen again.

In fact, every category had dozens of entries. We had more entries this year than we've ever had before.
